Objective
To provide employees with time away from work for rest, illness, personal needs, and statutory requirements while ensuring business continuity.
Key Components
Types of Leave
- Casual Leave (CL) / Sick Leave (SL) – 12 Sick is allowed in a year
- Earned/Privilege Leave (EL/PL) – 12 Privilege leave is allowed in a year
- Maternity Leave – 26 weeks
- Paternity Leave – 7 days

Policy Provisions
- Leave eligibility - All employees are eligible for leave benefits based on their employment status and tenure with the company.
- Eligibility Guidelines:
- Confirmed employees are entitled to all applicable leave benefits as per company policy.
- Employees on probation may have limited leave eligibility.
- Leave entitlement is calculated on a pro-rata basis for employees joining during the year.
- Employees must obtain approval before availing leave, except in emergency situations.
Leave accrual and carry-forward rules - Leave is credited to employees periodically according to company policy
Leave Accrual
Leave is credited to employees periodically according to company policy.
Example:
- Earned/Privilege Leave (EL): 12 days per year (1 days per month).
- Sick Leave (SL): 12 days per year.
Leave accrual starts from the employee's date of joining.
Carry-Forward Rules
Unused leave may be carried forward to the next calendar year subject to company limits.
Example:
- Earned Leave/PL: Carry forward permitted up to 3 Months.
- Casual Leave: Cannot be carried forward.
Any leave balance exceeding the permissible limit may lapse at the end of the leave year.
- Notice requirements
- Planned Leave
- Employee submits leave request through HRMS/email.
- Reporting Manager reviews the request.
- HR verifies leave balance.
- Final approval is communicated to the employee.
- Emergency Leave
- Employee must inform the reporting manager at the earliest possible opportunity via phone, message, or email.
- Formal leave application must be submitted upon return.
- Approval Authority
- Up to 3 days: Reporting Manager.
- More than 3 days: Department Head and HR approval.
- Long-term leave: Senior Management approval may be required.
- No employee shall proceed on leave until approval is granted, except in genuine emergencies
- Leave during probation
- The probation period is intended to assess an employee's suitability and performance.
- Eligibility During Probation
- Probationary employees may avail Sick Leave and Casual Leave on a limited basis.
- Earned Leave accrual may begin during probation but can generally be utilized after confirmation.
- Approval Requirements
- All leave requests during probation require prior approval from the Reporting Manager and HR.
- Excessive absenteeism during probation may impact confirmation decisions.
- Leave Without Pay (LWP)
- If probationary employees exhaust their eligible leave balance, additional leave may be treated as Leave Without Pay.
- Probation Extension
- Extended absence during probation may result in:
- Extension of the probation period.
- Delayed confirmation.
- Additional performance review.
- Unauthorized Absence
- Absence without approval during probation may lead to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
